B2B Account Executive/Benefits Counselor – Public Sector

The Florida Public Sector division of Colonial Life, an established leader in the employee benefits industry that’s been in business for more than 75 years, has an immediate opening for an Account Executive/Benefits Counselor to join its market-leading team in the Panhandle (Pensacola area). This role carries dual responsibilities of both an Account Executive and Benefits Counselor, based on business need. As an Account Executive, the selected candidate will focus on bringing our services and products to various businesses, including local, national and government. S/he will develop relationships with companies and brokers, implement Colonial Benefits, and maintain ongoing relationships with our clients. As a Benefits Counselor, the selected candidate will consult with employees (of our commercial, local and state government clients) on concerns regarding their health benefits, as well as educate them on the financial peace of mind our product offerings can provide during an unexpected health event. Colonial Life provides all materials, brochures, business cards, and training. A Florida 2-15 insurance license, or willingness to acquire in an agreeable timeframe, is required. Please note: Public Sector Account Executives are NOT limited to government accounts. Our division has extensive knowledge of handling these clients and will support the AE as necessary. Our enrollers work with employees from every client. RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS When opening new accounts (Account Executive – approx. 75%) Ability to work independently Ability to build rapport with brokers and clients, including interacting with all levels of staff Ability to strategically solve problems while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail Computer proficiency in MS Office and Internet (research, reporting, sourcing leads, client presentations, email) Previous sales experience (pharmaceutical, benefits, etc.) highly preferred, as position is commission-based with additional bonuses and renewals When enrolling clients’ employees (Benefits Counselor – approx. 25%)Ability to facilitate the enrollment, ensuring that proper information/paperwork for all enrollments and new hires is collected in a timely mannerExcellent follow-up skills in order to collect any missing information from clients and confirm underwriting memosTest the enrollment database and check for errors prior to the enrollmentAttend the benefits counselor meeting prior to the enrollment CHARACTERISTICS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE Self-driven and punctual Professional appearance Superior communication and organizational skills Entrepreneurial mindset Computer literate Sincere desire to educate and help othersStrives in a commission-based environment For immediate consideration, “Apply Now” or send cover letter and resume to: Selena James, Public Sector Recruiter & Regional Instructor, at with “AE/BC – Panhandle” as the subject.
