Peer Support Specialist Part Time – Weekends! Sierra Vista, AZ (Same opportunity available in Yuma and Casa Grande, AZ) Telecare has provided services to individuals with serious mental illness since 1965 and is proud to be a provider of mental health services in Arizona. The programs are recovery-focused and clinically effective. Telecare has over 85 programs and over 3,000 employees and manages mental health programs in California, Washington, Oregon, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Texas. When you work at Telecare, you help to empower thousands of individuals every day in their journeys of recovery. Telecare will operate 3 rural Assertive Community Based (ACT) programs in Arizona, located in Sierra Vista, Casa Grande and Yuma. The transdisciplinary team of mental health staff will provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to seriously mentally ill consumers, facilitating community living, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery for those who have not benefited or have not been reached by less intensive modes of intervention. Telecare is seeking staff committed to recovery principles and experienced in working with seriously mentally ill consumers, some resistant to treatment and many with co-occuring disorders. The Peer Supoort Specialist and offers peer support services, acts as role model, offers consumer assertiveness and advocacy training to persons being served; and also provides direct and indirect support services to members. QUALIFICATIONSOne (1) year of experience working with the severely and persistently mentally ill population, (1) year experience with working in a community setting, and demonstrated ability to perform at a consistently high level as a Personal Service Coordinator is required. Must have intimate knowledge of mental health consumer concerns and the progression of mental illnesses. Must be able to provide support and back-up to clients in the community. Must have state certification from an approved state peer support program. Must have the knowledge and ability to use public transportation, public assistant programs, and community resources. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have valid driver’s license, a DMV clearance for insurability, an available vehicle (approved for safety), and proof of insurance. Must be CPR certified. Acceptable results for pre-employment physical and criminal background check is necessary.Telecare Corporation is fully committed to a strong equal opportunity program .
