Help Desk Specialist Position Description The ideal candidate has experience supporting custom applications built on various operating system platforms including MS windows, Mac, iOS, Android. The applications are developed to track and report disease conditions and outbreaks across the world including Ebola. The support needs include forms design, data flow/entry, database administration and setup, analytics/statistics, reporting and geospatial mapping. The applications are mobile and Cloud enabled so experience supporting mobile or Cloud applications is highly desirable. The mobile technology operating system supported today are iOS and Android for tablets and smartphones. Working hours are standard 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM EST and Intensive training for the suite of tools will be provided. Your future duties and responsibilities Deliver service and support to end users remotely via phone support or electronicallyTroubleshoot software installations and configurations within various environmentsProvide users with professional and courteous support servicesRespond to requests for technical assistance via phone or electronicallyProvide technical support in implementing and configuring software within various environmentsAssist with the training of EPI Info to field personnelLog support interactions, and prepare activity reportsIdentify and escalate situations requiring urgent attentionAccurately track and route problems, requests and document resolutionsStay abreast of system information, changes and updates Required qualifications to be successful in this role Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of Help Desk experience (experience may be substituted in lieu of education)Experience with various Windows operating systems and database platforms.Experience with database setup and troubleshootingSome networking and computer configuration experienceExperience with various laptop setups, server configuration, tablet and smartphones.Experience dealing with customers/users in high stress situations (disease outbreaks)Familiar with wireless technology setup and configurationCapability to quickly learn new applications and software configurationsExperience with geospatial mapping tools is a plus DesiredPrior CDC experience, Epi Info, familiarity with Atlassian’s Jira, and Confluence.
