Essential Job Requirements: Lays out, assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports and related equipment for all marine and ship systems including but not limited to steam, hot water, cooling, lubricating, fire suppression, MSD, cargo piping with all related. Knowledge of system operation, following blueprints: select type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment. Inspects work site to determine the presence of obstructions and ascertain that holes will not cause structural weakness. Plans installation or repair to avoid conflict with other trades. Cuts pipe using flame cutting, pipe cutter. Saws, pipe cutting machine. Tread pipe using a threading machine. Assembles and installs a variety a variety of metal pipes including but not limited to iron, steel and various alloys. Connects pipes with threaded, flanged, brazed, fused, welded, compression connections. Secures pipes to structures with brackets, clamps and hangers using hand and power tools. Must be able to install pumps, compressors and other fluid handling systems. Must be able to do hydrostatic testing of all piping systems. Must be able to manual ballasting using temporary hoses and pumps. Must be able to tack weld to secure fittings and pipes. Must be able to work in confined spaces that are hot. Must be able to bend, crouch, and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work at heights on ladders, scaffolding, hanging staging, etc. Perform other related duties as required. Must be able to maintain production schedules.
