JOB DESCRIPTION: The employee will perform those duties expected of a full time PROJECT /PROGRAM MANAGER. He/She will be in charge of ensuring that major ship repair overhaul/repair jobs he is assigned are scheduled properly, that the schedule is adhered to and that work performed is in compliance with safety, environmental and specified technical directives. He/She will assist in the preparation of program/project repair schedules with milestones, will know his/her budget, and prepare daily progress and other reports. Shipyard experience in the role or a similar role is a requirement for this position. QUALIFICATIONS:Must have prior successful experience as a Program/Project Manager and be especially familiar with structural ,pipe fitting, and other complex repairs on naval vessels. Must be expert in reading specifications and pipe, structural, sheet metal and electrical drawings.A College degree at the BA or BS level is prefered.Must read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.Can create and update MS Project Schedules.Is familiar with OSHA and EPA rules and regulations.Can prepare commonly used reports, to include Condition Found Reports (CFRs), Change Orders, and others.Has supervised 10-30 company employees and all subcontractors involved in the ship repair effort.Knows how to get around a Navy, Coast Guard, or MSC ship and understands compartmentation. Familiarity with structural repairs, sandblasting/painting, welding, sheet metal, and electrical repairs.Analyze and reduce costs. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation of bid quotations and change orders associated with assigned projects, be an active participant in building successful teams with sub contractors.Possess a Class C Drivers license.Understand and work with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.Sets and meets goals, meets or beats milestones.Overseas all project standards for quality, cleanliness, and organization.Orders machines, equipment, and inspects all for condition and proper operation.Monitors weekly adherence to the plan.Is free to travel, as required, to supervise projects. This is an infrequent requirement, but is expected with certain jobs.The position requires extensive climbing of ladders, gangways and, in certain cases, confined spaces. Must know confined compartment entry procedures/requirements.Must successfully pass a RapidGate required background security check COMPENSATION: Compensation and benefits meet or exceed industry standards for the region.
