Job Description:

The Telecare Riverside County Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) is an acute inpatient, 16-bed adult intensive treatment program. The program provides services to individuals experiencing severe psychiatric symptoms and can benefit from more structured services, supports and a secure setting. The PHF is designated by Riverside County Department of Mental Health (RCDMH) as a 5150 facility providing involuntary psychiatric care. On average, PHF clients stay for 5-7 days and will be serving ages 18+. The program is housed in the same building as the 12-chair Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). POSITION SUMMARY Provides direct care and oversees activities that are performed by professional and paraprofessional nursing personnel. This involves coordination of all care provided patients with a focus on maintaining the quality of services rendered. QUALIFICATIONS One year of acute psychiatric inpatient experience is preferred. Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of California is required, as is graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BA or BS degree preferred. Necessary skills include ability to complete an accurate needs assessment and a willingness to participate as a team member in a multidisciplinary environment; sensitivity to multi-cultural populations and issues is required; the ability to supervise professional and paraprofessional staff, including making assignments and assisting with counseling and evaluations. Must have valid CPR certification. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS • Plans, organizes, directs and controls nursing services on assigned shift and unit. • Makes use of management practices that include empowerment of staff, the provision of clear and concise expectations regarding duties assigned employees, frequent feedback focusing on both positive and problematic aspects of work performance and other management practices that are consistent with Continuous Quality Improvement. • Assigns tasks to staff each shift, as appropriate. • Coordinates and supervises admissions to assure accurate and complete documentation in the medical record and timely referral to the medical physician. • Supervises the administration of all medication and treatments in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. • Consults with other team members regarding patient’s progress. • Provides safe, effective and efficient implementation of direct care in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care. • Reviews and maintains the amount, accuracy and quality of documentation included in the medical records. • Demonstrates knowledge of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) techniques Telecare Corporation is fully committed to a strong equal opportunity program .
