Job Description:

Systems Administrator Position Description CGI seeks a highly skilled Tier I Systems Administrator to work in an expanding and challenging integrated and distributed Windows / Linux environment. The Tier I support efforts are primarily applied to the Help Desk/Serviced Desk support and basic/intermediate level troubleshooting for system users. The day to day functions will be focused on basic IT services, ensuring backups are completed and systems are online and available, as well as answering trouble tickets and interfacing with system users. Your future duties and responsibilities Responsibilities:• Provides day-to-day Service Desk (Help Desk) support services using services oriented processes and procedures with documentation.• Participates in all facets of IT services and support to maintain, update, report and improve the overall operations and performance of the customer enterprise environment, including business, technology, IT Service Management (ITSM) and Information/Communications security• Assists in implementing the ITSM support functions, such as Incident Management, Problem Management, Configuration Management, Change Management and Release Management.• Provides system administration and management services for specified systems, workstations, servers, telecommunications systems, and interface to external systems.• Manages systems to ensure operational readiness, availability and reliability of all specified systems.• Maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be included in system accreditation documentation.• Coordinates and implements upgrades of specified systems, ensuring new and/or planned equipment is compatible with existing systems.• Provides technical recommendations and cost estimates in support of equipment purchases.• Provides ongoing technical support for WANs and other voice and data lines.• Coordinates with external support vendors and government to maintain existing and new services. • Generates technical documentation pertaining to acquisition of such services, engineering changes and telecommunications (telco) circuit replacement. • Performs account management and provisioning for program network and all designated systems and applications requiring accounts, including Web portals and Web-based document management solutions.• Ensures all hardware, software, network devices and peripheral equipment are functioning properly and serviced.• Ensures that all security accreditation requirements are met, documented and maintained. • Applies other appropriate guidance to lesser classified systems. Submit all documentation to Information Assurance (IA) group.• Establishes communications with and utilize the IA Division subject matter experts (SMEs) and support through the Certificate and Approval (C&A) efforts through accreditation and following life cycle for IT and mission systems.• Provides Information System Security Officer (ISSO) support in ensuring IA Group is included in all changes made to all networks so that these changes may be incorporated in the appropriate accreditation packages 100% of the time.• Ensures that all maintenance activities are recorded in the Monthly Maintenance Log; all outages are documented in the Log of Outages.• Provides user training as needed on desktop and developed applications.• Ensures all applications are functioning properly and provide upgrade to applications as planned through the change control process.• Participates in IT governance forums or briefings, planning boards, Engineering Review Boards (ERB) and Configuration Control Board (CCB).• Ensures all measures are taken for the operational stability of the program’s systems.• Participates in meetings and coordinate with members of other teams to ensure proper planning, deployments, upgrades and other system/network related changes.• Responsible for day to day reporting of task status and ensuring that daily tasks are conducted as scheduled (ie: backups, maintenance, etc)• Assists the Network and Systems Engineer sand by implementing software patches, updates, security settings, etc. as identified with security documentation and Security Manager.• Maintains existing Microsoft Active Directory and provide customer support associated with IT Help Desk.• Provides support and resolve WAN issues for clients at headquarters and remote sites.• Efficiently gathers information on customer requests and problems to facilitate timely issue resolution and service delivery.• Assesses, acquires, installs, tests, and implements patch management solutions, such as Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and RHEL Satilite• Establishes continuous Patch Management by performing Vulnerability Awareness and Assessment; Patch Identification and Download; Patch Testing; Patch Approval; Patch Deployment; Patch Verification, and Compliance Management• Maintains Videoteleconferencing (VTC) Operations and provide liaison support to ensure VTC operational effectiveness, security, readiness, availability, and reliability within client headquarters and its remote sites.• Assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of various systems to include desktop PCs, servers, network equipment, and software applications.• Develops, maintain and monitor procedures for all server backups. • Monitors, plans and coordinates the distribution of client/server software and service packs.• Makes recommendations for new equipment and services to purchase and works with various vendors for procurement. • Assists in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources.• Maintains excellent communication with the IT and Security Managers on all tasks and projects.• Provides emergency on-call support.• Perform other duties as assigned by management. Required qualifications to be successful in this role Requirements:• Knowledge and experience with Virtualized Infrastructure (Desktop and Server) and associated storage area networks is desirable for all system administrators and system engineers.• Minimum of three years experience in software management and Help Desk support functions.• Ability to troubleshoot complex telecommunication software and hardware problems.• Several years experience with Windows 2008 Server platforms with an emphasis on Active Directory. • Strong background in Exchange 2008 messaging system. • Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations to include experience with Cisco routers & switches, Internet firewalls, and wireless technology. • Basic Windows scripting skills. • Experience setting up Virtual Machines• Experience setting up and managing database systems such as SQL Server.• Advanced hardware & software troubleshooting skills. • Maintains quality customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and is a team player with the ability to work well independently. • Must possess above average organization skills, excellent communication skills, and can demonstrate problem solving skills. • Considered an out of the box thinker and displays a willingness to learn.• Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, possessing a current TOP SECRET DoD clearance based on current SSBI.• Must have an SCI eligibility notation on JPAS from a DoD Agency.
