Essential Duties: • Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches and hand tools• Verify conformance of work piece to specifications using square, rulers and measuring tape• Perform hand welding or brazing operations• May lay our guidelines or marks on metal parts and cut metal with cutting torch• Tack-weld fitted parts together• Align and fit parts to specifications using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammers• Locate and mark bending and cutting lines onto work piece• Move parts into position, manually or with hoist or cranes• Fabricates and assembles structural metal products according to job order• Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, drill press to bend, cut form, punch, drill or otherwise form and assemble metal components• Prompt and regular attendance a must• Other duties as assigned by management. Special Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:• AWS Certification D1.1 required• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience as welder/fabricator• Demonstrated competency in computer operations• Good mathematical and mechanical aptitude• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals Work Environment: Inside manufacturing building; non-uniformly heated or air conditioned. Exposed to dust, oil, grime, fumes, industrial lubricants, grinding and welding debris. Noise level moderate, and may require hearing protection. Eye protection and other PPE required, i.e. safety shoes. Physical Requirements: Average level of physical exertion is medium. Required to bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb ladders both caged and uncaged, as well as stairs and other equipment. Required to stand and walk for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
